iPhone 5 is in markets, mesmerizing the consumers being the best technologically advanced device. It has iOS 6; the updated version of Apple’s operating system. But, the disturbing thing is what iPhone 4S users should do with their gadget. Should they go for an upgrade or should they feel satisfied with what they have? The answer to this question lies in the comparison of both iPhone versions given in the lines below.

The Release Date
iPhone 5 was released on Sept. 21, 2012, where as iPhone 4S was released on Sept. 14, 2011. iPhone 4S launch carried the announcement of Siri, the voice recognition software of Apple.

The price of the both iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 is similar, i.e.
For 16 GB, it’s $199
For 32GB, it’s $299
For 64GB, it’s $399

All the sets are available with 2 years U.S. based contract. For an unlocked iPhone in U.K., the price is £529. After rise in the price of iPhone 5, the price of iPhone 4S is dropped. 16GB iPhone 4S is available in $99 for U.S. based set and $399 for an unlocked iPhone.

The Operating System
iPhone 5 has iOS 6 that carries lots of new features. The Passbook to track tickets, loyalty cards, maps app, 3D satellite images, detailed calendar, and auto replying text message in case one couldn’t attend the call.
iPhone 4S has iOS 5.1.1, but Apple has confirmed that all the devices from iPhone 3GS can have iOS 6 update. It means iPhone 4, and both versions of iPads will have the update, good news for Apple fans. However, the issue that happened with iOS 5 being operated over older devices was slowing down resulting in poor performance. Keep backup of your iPhone data before running software update over it, just as a precautionary measure.

The Processor
IPhone 5 has A6 chip while iPhone 4S has A5 chip. Apple claims the speed to be double to that of A5 chip, found in iPhone 4S. This enhanced chip speed is good enough to support enhanced gaming experience.
iPhone 4S has dual core processor of 800 MHz the graphic processing t iPhone 4S is 7 times compared to that of iPhone 4.

The Memory
iPhone 5 is said to have 1024 MB memory, which is the same as found on iPad 3. iPhone 4S has 512MB of RAM, which is half compared to galaxy III of Samsung.

The Display
iPhone 5 has 326 PPI Retina Display with 4 inches and having screen resolution of 1136 x 640, with aspect ratio of 16:9. The screen is half inch larger than iPhone 4S. In the additional half inch, an additional 5th row of icons is adjusted.
iPhone 4S has a display of 3.5 inches, resolution of 640×960, and 326 PPI.

The Storage
iPhone 5 has 3 storage sizes, just like iPhone 4S. 16GB, 32GB, 64GB. iPhone 4S also has the same storage ranges.

The Network
iPhone 5 has 4G speed whether it’s Sprint, AT&T, or Verizon. The Wi-Fi support is also improved in the latest gadget. iPhone 4S isn’t 4G.

Weight
iPhone is 112 grams in weight, 7.6mm in thickness, 18% thinner, and 20% lighter than iPhone 4S. iPhone 4S is 140 grams in weight and 9.3 mm in thickness.
Both iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 need unlock iPhone support to get rid of any restrictions and to enjoy the freedom of using the Smartphone. Look for some reliable vendor to get to the best unlocking solution for your iPhone whether it’s 4S or 5.
